Antique Edwardian Brass Coal Bucket, c. 1900
A handsome antique brass fireside coal bucket dating to the early 20th century, with beautifully restrained Edwardian detailing and a wonderfully aged surface.
The cylindrical brass body is raised on three decorative cast feet and finished along the upper edge with a pierced fretwork gallery and beaded trim. A removable domed brass lid is topped with a simple turned finial.
The interior retains a dark metal lining showing considerable age and use, including oxidation and surface wear. The exterior brass has been left with its existing patina rather than polished to a high shine.
Originally designed for storing coal beside the hearth, today it makes a striking decorative fireside piece and could also be repurposed for kindling, throws or other dry decorative storage.
Approximate measurements:
18” H including lid and finial
12” diameter
Condition:
Good antique condition with substantial age-related patina and surface wear. The brass shows areas of tarnish, discoloration, scratches and oxidation. The interior shows notable oxidation/rust and evidence of its original utilitarian use. Please review all photographs closely for condition.
