Antique Meissen Blue Onion reticulated porcelain cabinet plate, circa 1900.
A beautiful example of Meissen’s iconic cobalt blue-and-white porcelain, featuring the historic Blue Onion, or Zwiebelmuster, pattern. The central botanical decoration is surrounded by an exceptionally intricate pierced basket-weave lattice border punctuated by three molded rocaille-style floral cartouches.
The reverse bears Meissen’s underglaze blue crossed-swords factory mark, with an antique handwritten collector/dealer label remaining on the underside.
The elaborate openwork border gives this piece considerably more decorative presence than a standard Blue Onion plate. Beautiful displayed on a plate stand, incorporated into a blue-and-white porcelain collection, or styled in a traditional, English country or collected interior.
Maker: Meissen Porcelain Manufactory
Pattern: Blue Onion / Zwiebelmuster
Origin: Germany
Date: Late 19th to early 20th century, circa 1900
Material: Porcelain
Mark: Underglaze blue crossed swords
Condition: Very good antique condition with age-appropriate surface wear. The delicate pierced lattice appears remarkably well preserved in the supplied photographs, with no obvious major chips, cracks or repairs observed. Antique paper label remains on the underside. Please review photographs carefully as they form part of the condition description.
Plate stand shown in photographs is not included.
