Vintage red stoneware decorative vase featuring sculptural Chinese-inspired dragon and guardian-lion decoration.
The substantial baluster-form body is finished in a rich matte terracotta-red tone and decorated in raised relief with sinuous dragons moving among stylized clouds. Sculptural guardian-lion figures project from the shoulders, giving the vessel a particularly architectural silhouette, while a band of small auspicious-style motifs circles the flared mouth.
The monochromatic finish allows the molded decoration and texture to stand out beautifully, giving the piece a sophisticated, collected appearance that works equally well in traditional, English country, chinoiserie, eclectic and layered interiors.
Displayed alone or styled with books and other collected objects, it has excellent decorative presence and is especially well suited to a library, console, mantel, cabinet or tabletop vignette.
Condition: Good vintage condition with light age-appropriate surface wear, scattered small marks and minor discoloration. Some darker marks and small surface irregularities are visible upon close inspection, particularly around the rim, body and base. No major structural damage is visible in the supplied photographs.
