Vintage Maitland-Smith letter holder featuring an elaborate neoclassical design in a beautifully aged antique brass finish.
The openwork panels are richly decorated with classical urns overflowing with fruit and flowers, surrounded by scrolling foliage and suspended garlands. A pierced rectangular base rests on four small feet, creating a substantial and highly decorative desk accessory.
Ideal for holding correspondence, stationery or papers, while the sculptural detailing makes it equally appealing displayed on a desk, library table or console.
The underside retains its original Maitland-Smith Ltd. label noting the piece was designed and handmade in Thailand.
Measurements: approximately 9” long × 4.5” wide × 6.75” high.
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-appropriate patination, rubbing, oxidation and areas of finish wear throughout. The original center divider is missing, leaving the piece with a single open compartment between the two decorative outer panels. The mounting points for the former center divider remain visible in the pierced base. The original Maitland-Smith label remains attached underneath. Structurally solid and fully functional as a single-compartment letter holder.
