A charming vintage oil painting depicting a romantic Venetian canal scene with gondolas, classical architecture, domes and a distant bell tower.
The painting is housed in an especially substantial ornate gilt frame featuring raised floral, foliate and scrolling Rococo-style decoration. A small plaque mounted beneath the painting reads “S. Weirle.” We have not been able to independently verify the identity of the artist, so the work is offered based on the painting, plaque and decorative merits rather than a specific artist attribution.
Its smaller scale and dramatic frame make it particularly well suited to a gallery wall, bookshelf vignette or layered traditional interior.
Painting: approximately 8” × 10” Overall framed: approximately 14” × 16.25” Weight: approximately 8 lb
